What was the problem?
Up World was a classic tale of an awesome product being let down by a slow and unattractive website with few conversion elements.
Even worse, their website front-end was essentially locked behind complicated code that only their original web design agency could access - and they charged a premium to make any changes!
Which was unbelievably frustrating and damn right unfair! And this happens all the time. Web agencies locking you into ever-increasing retainers.
How did I solve it?
First we made sure to use a platform that the Up World team could access to make changes to their site easily, without relying on me (although of course I’m happy to help).
Then, we completely redesigned the hero section to drive conversions, reducing the amount of distractions from the clickable buttons.

Next, we changed their messaging to evoke emotions from their target audience and made purchasing a membership appear like a logical, risk-free, and desirable thing to do.
And finally, we added trust signals like money back guarantees, answering any hesitations with strategically written FAQs, and humanising the brand with a founder video.
The most effective websites tend to show the people behind the company. Consumers prefer to buy from people when they haven’t heard of your brand before.
So unless you’re a big-time company, make sure to highlight your team/founders.
